Work at CERES
CERES has over 140 employees who are mostly part time. To obtain more information on CERES philosophy and management structure please go the the About CERES section.
Across the organisation we also have approximately 400 people providing their time and expertise as volunteers. Volunteers contribute to the key CERES enterprises such as Honey Lane and Harding Street Market Gardens, CERES site maintenance crews and behind the scenes through admin work. The CERES seed propogation program is also a popular hub for volunteers and the fruits of volunteers labour can be seen all over the site as well as in the Market Gardens and at our Permaculture and Bushfood nursery.
Many people decide to commit a regular amount of time to CERES such as a day or half day a week. For others they will be inspired by a particular project such as our Kingfisher and Harvest festival and volunteer only for the life of the project.
Whatever way you find your way to the CERES community be it through employment or volunteering your contribution is greatly appreciated.
Current Employment Opportunities
CERES Site Gardener
CERES site gardener/horticulturalist has been a permanent position for over three years.
The position grew out of a high volunteer demand for general gardening work combined with an increased
awareness of the importance the garden areas played within the CERES environment. This was reinforced with
the CERES Strategic Plan calling for the improved maintenance and development of gardens and their
integration with innovative sustainable practices as well as the meaningful involvement of the community in
practical site activities.
The position has developed further due to demands from current site development. The potential has been
recognized for the position to broaden into a more active design role, to integrate and develop site areas and to
increase functionality and aesthetic appeal.
