Om Organic Mushrooms

Om Organic Mushrooms is an AMES - CERES social enterprise based at CERES Community Environment Park in Brunswick East. The enterprise is operated by new migrants from the Burmese (Karen) Community.

The Om Organic Mushroom enterprise provides training for Certificate II in Horticulture (Mushroom production), work experience and casual employment, as well as integration and interaction with the larger Australian community to these students from Karen Community.

At present Swiss brown and shiitake mushrooms are produced for CERES Market, café, food-cops and excess sold to Melbourne Wholesale Market.

Used mushroom blocks are sold for growing mushrooms at home and mushroom compost for use in the gardens as manure and mulch for growing healthy plants. Om Organic Mushrooms is certified by National Association of Sustainable Agriculture Australia (NASAA).
