Do you want to be involved in making a real difference?
Do you want to be supported in your efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions?
Do you want to inspire and educate others about the need to act now?

The Climate Change Action Group has developed as an avenue for people inspired to do something about climate change to work with others to become informed, devise strategies and initiatives and be supported in taking action and engaging others in the community.

The CCAG meets monthly at CERES to learn more about Climate Change issues, discuss ideas and plan actions. In order to facilitate this process a number of working groups have also been formed to look at specific issues including:

  • Community Education and Household Action
  • Transport Alternatives & Electric Vehicle Conversion, see the electricvehicle web page
  • Youth Action

Feed-In Tariff for Solar PV’s
The CERES Climate Change Action Group is working with the Alternative Technology Association and other environmental groups to campaign for the introduction of a suitable Feed-In Tariff for Solar PV’s in Victoria.

In the lead up to the recent Victorian State election, the ALP made a commitment, if re-elected, to introduce a fair price for grid-connected solar PV electricity via the implementation of a feed-in tariff announcing that an “effective and efficient feed-in system” would be developed, and that a feed-in tariff would provide a fair price for renewable energy fed into the grid.

As yet, this has not happened. We believe that if an adequate Tariff was introduced, it would encourage large numbers of Victorians to purchase and install Solar Panels on their home- reducing the amount of energy used from non-renewable sources and increasing the amount of sustainable, solar generated electricity in our grid.
